The Cowra Family History Group Inc., in an ongoing project, aims to list as many burials as possible, both marked and unmarked, within a 50km radius of Cowra.
Because the flow of internal migration within the local area was generally from the east (Sydney and the Blue Mountains) or from the south (from the Goulburn and Boorowa areas), there are very strong family ties to Cowra from these directions. The same family names are repeated in nearly all of the cemeteries surveyed, in many cases over several generations.

Through the Lens
From the 30,000 photos of the Pardey Collection, we have chosen a very small selection for this publication, pictures representing activities, events and buildings. We hoped these would trigger memories and discussions about Cowra and perhaps the wider community. The focus of the book lies in the second half of the 20th Century, concentrating on areas that have disappeared or undergone massive changes in recent years.

Tragedies in the Cowra District
The stories in this book remind us of the progress in society that has been achieved in the last century. So many of these tragedies would not have happened if modern methods of communication, medical expertise, fire-fighting and flood mitigation had been available.
The stories recounted in this book have been collected from the pages of newspapers, mainly (but not always) local ones, and range from 1852 to 1949.

Cowra Unmarked Burials to 1940 (Cemetery Transcriptions Vol 3)
Cowra Cemetery contains a very large number of unmarked burials, particularly in the older sections of the cemetery. Cowra Unmarked Burials to 1940 attempts to list as many as possible of those unmarked graves.
A few burials do have a headstone, but the information on the memorial differs from that obtained from the Register of Death, or lacks some information, such as age or date of death. A small group of unmarked burials within the town environs has also been included.

Carcoar Burials
We cannot claim that all burials for Carcoar have been listed, as deaths occurring outside the area need not necessarily have been registered in any of the Registers consulted, although the burials may have taken place in Carcoar.
Because there is no indication in the records consulted for many of the burials as to the particular portion of the cemeteries or the plot numbers of graves, Carcoar Burials contains a very large number of unmarked burials with no indication of precise locations.

Roll Call at Morongla Cemetery
An appeal to the people of Morongla and surrounding areas for additional information for a publication on their local cemetery was overwhelmingly successful.
A simple book of cemetery transcriptions became a 300 page testament to this close-knit community and is available in The Lives and Times of Morongla.
After dedicating nearly two years to that tribute we found ourselves back at our original task recording Morongla Cemetery, previously known as Morongla Creek Cemetery and/or Wattamondara Cemetery. Searchable PDF file.

Lives and Times of Morongla
Morongla is a small village approximately 15 kms south-east of Cowra.
Dating back to the earliest European settlers, this book transforms us to another time when life was much simpler and survival was the only challenge.
For the strong and steadfast best able to meet the challenges of ignorance of a new and foreign land, the pestilence of flood and drought, the isolation and the hardship, the opportunities for wealth and prosperity were endless.
The courage, perseverance and initiative demonstrated by these early pioneers has been passed on to their descendants, many of whom still reside in the area and are making a valuable contribution to our town and district.
Consists of newspaper clippings, personal papers and anecdotes supplied by family members. Searchable PDF file.
